Of all the photography routes I run in India, the Golden Triangle remains the one that delivers the most consistent results for participants — regardless of their skill level.
Why? Because the variety is extraordinary. In eleven days you move from the chaotic grandeur of Old Delhi to the ethereal stillness of the Taj Mahal at sunrise. From the pink-walled streets of Jaipur to the surreal spectacle of the Pushkar Camel Fair.
Delhi — The starting point
We begin in Delhi, and I always resist the temptation to rush through it. Old Delhi around the Jama Masjid is one of the most photographically dense places I know. Every alley has a story. Every face is a portrait waiting to happen.
Agra — The Taj at sunrise
I will say this once: the Taj Mahal is not a cliché. Every person who has stood inside it at first light, when the marble shifts from grey to pink to white as the sun rises, knows this. It is one of the great human achievements. Photograph it without shame.
The Pushkar Camel Fair
This is the highlight. Tens of thousands of camels, their owners dressed in brilliant Rajasthani colour, converging on a small desert town for five days of trading, ceremony and spectacle. If you can only go to one festival in India in your lifetime, make it this one.
