Ladakh 2026 — What to Expect on This Expedition

Ladakh is one of those rare places that changes you. Not just as a photographer, but as a person.

I've been leading workshops here since 2019, and every single time I return, the landscape reveals something new. The quality of light at 3,500 metres above sea level is unlike anywhere else on earth — harder, clearer, more direct. Shadows are sharp. Colours are saturated beyond what your eyes expect.

Our 2026 expedition runs from September 10th to 21st, and we still have two seats available.

Delhi: Where the Journey Begins

We start in Delhi — not just as a transit point, but as a photographic destination in its own right. Old Delhi's lanes, the Jama Masjid at dawn, Chandni Chowk in full chaos — these are images that reward patience and presence.

The Monasteries

Thiksey Monastery at dawn, during the morning puja, is one of the most atmospheric photographic experiences I know. The monks, the light through the windows, the sound of horns and drums — it's all there.

Nubra Valley and the Bactrian Camels

The sand dunes of Hunder with the double-humped Bactrian camels against the backdrop of snow-capped peaks. It sounds surreal. It is surreal.

The Changpa Tribe

Our last full day is spent with the Changpa nomads — herders of pashmina goats across the high-altitude Changthang plains. This is documentary photography at its most intimate.
